About Ideal Climate Map
The map shows, for anywhere on land, how many days a year have the weather you call comfortable: a daily high within your range, little or no rain, light wind and, if you like, clear skies.
How the numbers are made
Every number is counted from real measured days at weather stations, not from climate models or long-term averages. The current dataset covers 2023–2025 at 3,984 quality-checked stations (2,566 of them also report cloud cover), built on 2026-10-11.
- A day counts when it passes every test you switch on. Days with a missing reading are skipped, and each month is scaled to its length, so the yearly figure describes an average year.
- Between stations the map blends the nearest four (within 300 km). Mountains, coasts and cities can differ from the shading around them.
- Stations without a working rain gauge, with unreliable cloud reports, or with too many gaps are left out. Mountain stations far above their neighbours aren't used for the shading.
- Hatched land means no station within 300 km: no data, not a low count.
Disclaimer
This is a guide to what the weather has been like, not a forecast and not a climate normal. Three years is a short record, and any single year can be unusual. Station readings can contain errors, and a station (often an airport) may not represent the place you have in mind. The information is provided as is, without warranty. Don't rely on it for safety-critical, medical, financial or legal decisions.

Privacy
- No cookies, no ads, no tracking across sites. The page, fonts and weather data all come from this site.
- We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you; it records pages viewed, referrer, country and device type. Your browser loads its script from analytics.ahrefs.com.
- Your settings (thresholds, month, units) are remembered in your own browser's local storage so the map looks the same next time. They never leave your device unless you share a link. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
- A shared link contains only the map settings and, if one is open, a weather station's ID. It contains nothing about you.
